We honor Mother Earth’s sacred plant medicines and celebrate the 6-year anniversary of the City of Ann Arbor’s resolution to decriminalize entheogenic plants and fungi. It is illegal to sell anything on campus of UM during Entheofest.

Thanks to these community groups that helped put Entheofest together
Our community lost these two great men in the past year. Their devotion to plant medicine brought us to the point we are today, and we hope to carry on their mission. We keep them in our hearts and dedicate this year’s Entheofest to their memory.

Without John Sinclair, there would be no Entheofest nor would there be the activism in the state of Michigan that we see today. Poet, music critic, manager, promoter, and activist John Sinclair was born in Flint and raised in Davison, Michigan. Sinclair was given a prison sentence in 1969 for giving two joints to undercover officers. He served 29 months but was released a few days after John Lennon, Stevie Wonder, Bob Seger and others performed in front of thousands of people at the University of Michigan’s Crisler Arena. He is the co-founder of the Detroit Artists’ Workshop, the Wayne State University Artists’ Society, the Artists’ Workshop Press, and Trans-Love Energies Unlimited, a cooperative booking agency for music bands. John Sinclair spoke at Entheofest 2023.

Dale “Rick” Thompson, a passionate advocate for cannabis reform in Michigan, passed away in September 2023. He was a supporter and speaker for Entheofest and this movement. He played a key role in the passage of Michigan recreational cannabis laws and the Michigan Medical Marihuana Act in 2008. He championed patient rights throughout his life. Thompson’s advocacy extended through his work as a journalist, editor, and co-host of the “Jazz Cabbage Café” podcast. He served on many advocacy boards for the cannabis movement. Thompson’s legacy continues to shape the cannabis industry and the fight for cognitive freedom.
Look forward to hearing from these amazing speakers
